5 Flavor-Packed Meals to Save Your Weeknights
Testing a batch of fresh chilis. Think we put in enough?

It’s 7:12 PM. Homework’s on the table, and a soccer bag blocks the hall.

“Mom, what’s for dinner?”

I open the fridge like it’s a slot machine - leftover rice, half a bell pepper, two eggs, a pack of chicken thighs I meant to cook yesterday.

“Not plain ketchup,” my son says.

“Deal,” I reply, grabbing two bottles, Spicy Garlic Sauce and Hot Habanero Ketchup.

I’ve learned this the hard way, weeknights do not require perfect recipes.

They need patterns, simple formulas you can run with whatever’s in the fridge.

If your evenings look like mine (busy, hungry family, little time), steal these 5 fast moves.

Each gives you a base formula you can flex, and still get dinner people ask for again next week.

1) Spicy Garlic Shrimp Noodles

Spicy Garlic Shrimp Noodles

Base sauce

You’ll need

  • 8–10 oz thin egg noodles

  • 8–10 large shrimp

  • 2 cups Chinese broccoli/bok choy

  • 1 Tbsp neutral oil

  • Salt + pepper

Steps

  1. Prep noodles (cook until just tender) and blanch greens.

  2. Sear shrimp 1 min/side; set aside.

  3. Stir-fry greens 30 sec → add noodles + sauce, toss 1 min.

  4. Return shrimp, toss 10 sec. Serve with extra Habanero drizzle.

Heat dial: Mild (no Habanero), Medium (1 tsp), Hot (2 tsp)

Swaps: tofu/chicken, broccolini/spinach, spaghetti/ramen

Tip: Keep noodles dry before stir-frying for bounce.
