These Latin fried plantains are so crispy and delicious, and the best of all is that you can serve them as a side dish or a snack with our Saucey Ketchups.

“Kung Pao” Chicken w/ Spicy Garlic Sauce

Serves 2

Ingredients

2 cups vegetable oil for frying

3 green plantains, peeled & sliced into 1-inch pieces

Salt to taste

Method:

  1. Heat the oil in a heavy skillet over medium heat.

  2. Place a few plantain slices in the oil and cook until lightly golden, about 3 minutes. Drain on paper towels. Repeat with the remaining slices.

  3. Remove the plantains from the pan and flatten the plantains by placing a plate over the fried plantains and pressing down.

  4. Return flattened slices to the skillet, and continue frying until golden brown.

  5. Drain on paper towels, and season with salt and Sweet Jalapeno Ketchup or Hot Habanero Ketchup
