It started with a simple ask that turned into a new favorite. What was meant to be a quick snack became a fun little kitchen experiment, some green tomatoes from the backyard, a few spices, and that familiar sizzle that always means something good’s cooking. The result? Crispy, golden bites made even better with our Spicy Garlic Nước Chấm. Sometimes, the best dishes come from love, laughter, and a bit of curiosity.
Ingredients:
4 large green tomatoes, sliced into ¼-inch rounds
¾ cup all-purpose flour
½ cup cold water (adjust for batter consistency)
½ teaspoon turmeric powder
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
½ teaspoon mixed spices (such as paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, or your favorite seasoning blend)
oil for frying (enough to submerge halfway in a frying pan)
Method:
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, turmeric, salt, pepper, and mixed spices.
Gradually add cold water and whisk until you get a smooth batter
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
Dip each tomato slice into the batter, coating both sides evenly.
Fry until golden brown and crisp, about 2–3 minutes per side.
Drain on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
Serve hot with Spicy Garlic Nước Chấm for dipping.
Crunch, dip, repeat. Enjoy!
